a NO LONGER MADE 20″ K Zildjian PRE-AGED DRY LIGHT SIZZLE RIDE cymbal,
pre-serial number, indicating that this cymbal is over 31 years old and in unbelievable condition!
And it’s in OUTSTANDING CONDITION with few stick marks present, no cracks, chips or keyholes! It was very well taken care of and weighs 2013 grams! This cymbal is a real find in this condition as most of this model have been obliterated or are in poor condition! And this cymbal has 3 rivets factory installed for that old school jazz sound!
The 1991 Zildjian Cymbal catalog describes this cymbal as “Zildjian’s unique pre-aging process gives these cymbals the tonality and sound characteristics of older, more played in cymbals. A beautiful, subtle ride sound with a drier, more mellow sounding tonality than a brand new cymbal.”
My description is that this a bendable thin 20″ Ride cymbal which generates just the right blend of “ping” to “tah” sound, combined with a generous sized bell which is great for patterns. Because of the thin weight, it also has a nice wash which allows for some really nice shoulder crashes. This is an excellent cymbal for the die hard jazz drummer!
This cymbal generates a beautiful sound and is a great choice for jazz drummers, being that this model was the ride cymbal of choice for the legendary STEVE SMITH!
The cymbalsmith was undoubtedly inspired.
