For your consideration and from the halcyon mid-1980s, a pair of 14″ ZILDJIAN IMPULSE HI HAT CYMBALS in GREAT CONDITION!
A very rare pair of hi hat cymbals, these cymbals weigh in at 1276 grams (top) and 1097 grams (bottom).
Unexpectedly musical for their weights and construction, these hi hats feature hammering without any lathing and with the bottom cymbal having 8 notches evenly spaced for immediate air release. The IMPULSE series was Zildjian’s response to the Paiste Rude series until Zildjian introduced the Z series line in 1986/87. Again, these hi hats surprised me with their musicality as they can be used for many musical situations, not just louder hard rock or metal and they would be outstanding as a second or auxiliary pair of hi hats.
Zildjian described these hi hats as “Created to cut right through the loudest amplification, the raw and unrefined Impulse Hi Hats combine incredible volume with the ultimate projection of the rhythmic pulse.”
Very well stated, Zildjian…and since you folks at Zildjian produced these from only 1983 to 1986, this makes this pair among the rarest Zildjian Hi Hat cymbals ever produced.
They are crisp when closed tight but have a great sloshy sound!
Yes, you could go out and purchase a brand new, never been struck pair of Zildjian Z Custom Hi Hats from the big box chain stores for $509.95 plus taxes, but they wouldn’t be the OG, Original Ganster or possess the vintage sound and vibe that these do!
