For your consideration and immense pleasure, a 20” ZILDJIAN EAK, EARLY AMERICAN K RIDE CYMBAL, in GOOD to GREAT USED CONDITION! This cymbal has all of the telltale features of the Early American K Zildjian cymbal such as the microlathing, hammering on the bell, and the split “K” on both surfaces, not to mention the K trade stamp placing this cymbal among the first hand hammered K Zildjians produced on the North American continent when Armand Zildjian first consolidated the Zildjian brand decades ago!
This is cymbal is ready to use but could use a cleaning, if that’s your thing or you could leave it and add to the patina which has already developed and allow it to help define your individual sound as being very distinctive, unique and personal.
This cymbal still retains all of the logos and model designation, even if somewhat faded, and this cymbal has obvious signs of use such as fingerprints, stick marks, some spots of tarnish, tape residue and the like – giving it great character and a played in sound and feel! This cymbal has no cracks, chips or keyholing and is ready to be part of your arsenal!
This cymbal weighs a healthy 2863 grams and has a nice, strong sustain, some wash and the bell has a very musical “ping”!
And because I care, you get to hear and see the exact cymbal you are buying!
Zildjian describes this cymbal as “Low-pitched. Clear stick definition over roaring dark overtones with controlled build-up.”
With the price of the Istanbul Ks increasing to out of reach heights, these Ks are coming into their own and becoming sought after collectors’ items, with many drummers simply refusing to part with them! Grab this super rare example while you can, before it’s too late and this one is gone!
Yes, you could easily spend $424.95 on a brand new, right out of the bag K Zildjian Ride and it would be nice, quality made instrument. But it would also be a mere caricature of this cymbal and lack the personal attention and detail which was given to this cymbal in 1982, which is why the like s of Tony Williams began using these very cymbals.
