For your consideration and immense pleasure, a VINTAGE 1970s HOLLOW LOGO 21” ZILDJIAN A series ROCK RIDE CYMBAL, in GOOD to GREAT USED CONDITION! This is cymbal is ready to use but could use a cleaning, if that’s your thing or you could leave it and add to the patina which has already developed over the last 45 plus years. This cymbal still retains, both, the spartan “ROCK RIDE” model designation, which was all that was inked onto the top surface in that era, and the HOLLOW LOGO “Zildjian” script on the underneath side.
This cymbal has obvious signs of use such as fingerprints, stick marks, a heavy amount of patina, giving it great character and a played in sound and feel, but could be cleaned off….but I am leaving that up to you. This cymbal has no cracks, chips but does have a small amount fo keyholing yet is ready to be part of your arsenal!
This cymbal weighs a healthy 2722 grams and has a nice, strong sustain, some wash and the bell has an guitar player splitting “ping”!
And because I care, you get to hear and see the exact cymbal you are buying!
Zildjian describes this cymbal as “An excellent all-purpose Ride Cymbal designed especially for rock drummers. A heavy cymbal with a larger, deeper cup. A powerful bell sound with strong ‘ping’ qualities which cuts through amplified music and enables the drummer to generate extra power with less effort.”
Zildjian has ceased production on this very model, leaving a void for the drummer who needs a precise, driving ping but versatile enough to drive a big band, just like Ed Shaugnessy did when he played on the Tonight Show in the 1970s, battling it out with Buddy Rich!
This cymbal has a great sound with a nice wash and is an excellent choice for Rock, Jazz, Big Band, Funk, Latin, R&B – anywhere you need a prominent ride cymbal sound.
