a VINTAGE 1960s 5.5×14″ GRETSCH 4157 NAME BAND WHITE MARINE PEARL SNARE DRUM,
in EXCELLENT, USED CONDITION!
A somewhat rare snare drum that is prized by drummers everywhere, this vintage Gretsch snare drum retains all the features such as the Microsensitive throw-off, Renown butt, snap-in drum key and holder, internal muffler and is wrapped in what appears to be the original white marine pearl finish which has “yellowed” with age. The hoops are most likely not original as these appear to be “stick chopper” hoops.
CONDITION:
Being 60+ years old, this snare drum is going to have signs of use. The chrome on some of the parts has some minor pitting. The original “Gretsch” tag is missing but everything else is there with the exception of the factory die cast hoops which can probably found.
This drum can be played right out of the box and you will probably want to do so!
A word about the audio in the video; this snare drum was recorded with an SM57 on the batter and a small condenser mic on the snare side and the EQ was pretty much flat.
These are rare, prized and becoming hard to find in any condition.
