For your consideration and immense pleasure, a VINTAGE 1960s 24” ZILDJIAN A series RIDE CYMBAL, in GREAT USED CONDITION, ready to use right of the box in which it will be shipped to you in. With stick definition and ping being this cymbal’s forte, this cymbal is probably the precursor to the 24″ Ping Ride, the model which Steve Smith used with Journey and on the first Vital Information album.
This cymbal being approximately 60 years old, has a patina which was accumulated over the decades and features a more “hand involved” lathing and a crisp 1960s 3 dot stamp embossed in the surface. With those 60 years comes signs of use such as stick marks, fingerprints and the like, as well as small, inconsequential nicks around the edge.
In essence, if you’re looking for a cymbal that is in perfect condition with a smooth edge, this one is not for you…
If, however, you are looking for a great ride cymbal that will drive any band, this cymbal is an appropriate choice!
…..And vintage A Zildjians never go out of style and this cymbal is no exception!
This cymbal weighs a healthy 4128 grams and has a that “Who’s Crying Now” ride cymbal sound and sustain. And the bell produces a mix penetrating “ping”!
And because I care, you get to hear and see the exact cymbal you are buying!
Zildjian describes this cymbal as “More projection and better stick definition than the Zildjian Medium Ride, with minimum spread. Highly defined ‘ping’ sound. Good for bell work.”
I would say “great for bell work” rather than good.
And, given the weigh, thickness and sound qualities, this is not a cymbal for bashing out “emo” rock.
